SCHOOLS/EDUCATION

Learning is knowledge and knowledge is empowerment.

Living Culture specialises in tailored to suit educational visits, cultural talks and workshops for schools, organisations and bespoke groups, sharing insight and understanding for generations to come.

Through these workshops and visits, our team works alongside the educational community to bring awareness and engagement to the classroom, pupils and educators when dealing with Indigenous culture interpretations. Their easy-going nature and great connection with children and young people engages pupils, encouraging them to delve into the teachings of this ancient culture and consider the cultural environment of the present day.

The Living Culture School Education Program

The Living Culture program offers hands-on incursion and excursion options to engage, empower, and educate students of all ages.

  • Incursions: We bring our knowledgable and personable Indigenous educators into classrooms, where students can participate in hands-on workshops, storytelling sessions, and art-making. This immersive experience allows students to ask questions and interact directly with cultural practitioners.

  • Excursions: Our excursions take students to significant cultural sites and community events, where they can experience the beauty of Indigenous culture firsthand. These outings, guided by highly skilled local Indigenous Educators, foster a deeper understanding of cultural landscapes and history.

  • Mentoring Programs: Pairing students with mentors to provide guidance, support, and first-person insights. These programs can enhance learning and inspire students by creating a safe cultural environment.

Our team also brings awareness and understanding for adults – and teachers and educators in general are invited to engage in professional development on indigenous culture interpretations.

“We just wanted to pass our thanks on to Skyla for making our incursion last week so memorable and enjoyable for everyone. We had such lovely feedback from the children and the families, and we appreciate Skyla being so flexible and supportive to our group.

We also wanted to thank Lionel for coming along and leaving us with some drawings for the children. They have definitely enjoyed talking about the animals, colouring them in and even trying their hand at drawing their own. We look forward to working together on the bench seats and hopefully having everyone join us in the new space when it’s done.”

“Incursions have been very hands on and engaging for the students. Skyla was incredibly knowledgeable and positive with the students and provided lots of time for them to ask questions and learn. Will book again”

Matthew, Narre Warren South P-12 College

” The VCE students really appreciated Lionel’s session. The fact that it happened so close to here, that it was recent years and not historical, that he is with us and sharing the truth of what happened was very powerful and they have debriefed with their teachers this afternoon. Very powerful and very well received.”
